How To Pick a TV Wall Mount

You've got a new LCD TV that you are looking to wall mount. But how can you know what is the best wall mount for what you need? The following are a couple of things to pay attention to when you're looking for an LCD TV wall mount.

Once, every mount and TV manufacturer used their own set up, and because of that it wasn't easy to figure out what mount matched your television. Right now, however, all manufacturers have decided on a basic setup and this permits consumers to buy universal TV mounts. This not only will save you both money and time, but the pre drilled holes in the back of the newer TVs make mounting them a lot less problematic than it once was.

When you open your average universal TV mount kit, you will find brackets that go on the back of the TV and a plate that goes on the wall. The wall mounts are manufactured specifically to fit the holes that have been pre drilled into the back of the TV.

Keep in mind that even though the mounting kit is universal in its hardware, there are choices for mounting on the market that you will want to consider before getting one. For instance, if you're shopping for the cleanest overall look, you should try the standard, basic mount. A standard mount is going to keep the television within one inch of the wall. You should keep in mind that, with this type, you can't tilt the TV at all so you need to be careful about where it's mounted on the wall, considering where you want the main viewing area to be.

If you think that you will want to adjust the angle of the TV display, then you are going to want to buy a tilt mount. The style is much like the standard model, but the TV display is fastened further from the wall. The extra space allows the TV display to be tilted and adjusted. The tilt's degree is going to vary, depending on the make and model of the mount.

If you decide on the tilt model you're going to need to think about how the wall mount moves. Some mounts can move with just your hand because it moves on a ratchet system. there are other models that are going to require a tool to change the angle of the TV display. If you think you're going to be moving the position of the TV on occasion, it's probably worth the added expense to consider the ratchet system for accessibility and ease of the movement.

If you'd rather the ability to move to different places in the room and not sit on the same spot on the couch all the time, you may decide on a wall mount that permits the television to be moved away from the wall and adjusted and tilted for practically infinite positions. These are referred to as cantilever wall brackets.

So, when you're in the market for wall mounts for your TV, be certain you look at each area the television will be viewed from so you can buy the one that is going to work very best for you.
